When nothing came forward to rescue him,
My name is Sri. Dhonsing Rongpi. I reside in Rongmarjong area of Diphu, adjacent to Diphu Polytechnic Campus. I am a devotee of 'Jai Guru'. People also call me 'Tyagi Rongpi' in reference to my association with 'Jai Guru'. I came to Diphu in 1993, and immediately began preaching the doctrines of 'Jai Guru.' It was during those days that, I meet one Mr.Teron, who was of the same faith as myself. At Diphu, one Sri Seng Bey, a devotee of Shiva also accepted 'Jai Guru', after hearing my discourses on 'Jai Guru.'
I developed a great zeal to share my faith with others. Since my childhood, I have been a seeker after a ‘Living God’. But, my search for the true living god in 'Jai Guru' could notsatisfy my spiritual hunger and I soon realized that, I was looking in the wrong places.
One day, my friend told me that, “Boishno Dharma” (Vaishnava) was the highest of Hindu religion. I decided to follow Vaishnava faith and began worshipping 'Anukur Thakur', as my god. I became an ardent devotee of 'Anukur Thakur' for 12 years. Every morning, as I got up from my bed, before my feet touches the ground, I practice a routine ritual of 'coin offering'. Those 'coins' were to be sent to Bihar Satsang after completion of every one month. I had attained the title of 'Sostoni', which means 'Holy'. In accordance with the Sostoni status, I gave up eating onion, garlic, meat, etc., in adherence to my faith.
After my marriage, I had two children, but the elder one died; all the rituals, pujas and my ardent prayers to 'Jai Guru' could change my circumstances. Worst to follow, the neighbors would not come forward to help me with the burial process of my dead child, because I had embraced this faith. With deep sorrow inside me, my wife and myself carried the death body of our son and cremated him without any proper burial ceremonial. It was the saddest day of my life.
I was so heartbroken that, I was no longer able to stay in my village and so, I shifted to Diphu in 1993. As I settled in Diphu, I did not dampen my faith in 'Jai Guru', and continued to preach about 'Jai Guru' to people around me; some people began to show their interests in what I am saying, but then adversity hit me back again. This time my wife became mentally sick. She was not even able to take care of herself; my family underwent tremendous hardship as she was not able to take care of our home and children; she would not sleep at night and would at time run away from home in the middle of the night. I sought comforts, consolation and deliverance in 'Jai Guru', and observed all manners of prayers, devotions, obeisance and rituals; as nothing became fruitful, I consulted the 'Islamic faith', to which they gave my wife a 'Tabiz' (Talisman) to be worn on her arms. But the condition of my wife showed no apparent improvement.
Then one day, with great pain and sorrow, with tears flowing down my cheeks, I remembered a Christian God, who did not intermingle with the rest of other gods and goddesses; I thought that, faith in Jesus may dispel the evil spirits or mantra causing problem to my wife. With that thought, I visited a one Mr. Millick, a Christian, to share my problems with him; I was encouraged to hear that, my faith in the True and Living God Jesus Christ, can take away my problems; I was amazed that, only a prayer could heal my wife and I don’t even need to spend money for her treatment.
From that day onwards, I made a decision to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I received counseling from an evangelist and soon took my water baptism. When my wife showed no sign of improvement, the pastor of the Church suggested a “Fasting and Prayers” for a period of six days and six nights. The programme was participated by deacons and elders of the Church. I too joined the fasting and prayer sessions. On the first day of the programme itself, my wife to my surprise spoke to me that, she too want to undergo water baptism. It was unbelievable to me, as to how she could have come up with her decision and accepted Christ on her own. From that day, my search for the Living God came to an end.
My wife is completely healed today; all seven members in the family, including my children have accepted Jesus Christ as the True Living God. I have shown interest in reading various religious books and have been an ardent devotee of 'Jai Guru' but none of my previous faiths gave me hope of 'Salvation’. My previous faiths gave me neither assurance of redemption from my past sins nor redemption from evil spirits and mantras. I was never sure what will happen to me after I die. When I read the Gita, I was disappointed as I found no hope and assurance of salvation.
As I began reading the Bible, I was thrilled and amazed to find answers to all the mysteries which I could not understand, all these years. Today, I am assured of my salvation and God’s grace gives me comforts in my pain and sorrows. I began to understand about ‘Life after Death’ and the prophecies about the days to come. This is how I came to know The One and only Living God.
My dear friends, if you are in pain, with no hope of the future and your burden too heavy for you to carry and that your empty hearts longing for a redeemer likes me, I challenge you to come to Jesus Christ and call on his name, no matter who you are and what you are, Jesus is ready to comforts you and He loves you. Just as he healed my situation, he will do the same for you.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Jesus did!
